The research groups of the Institute of Stochastics
As a collective term for the fields of probability theory and statistics, stochastics is the study of the mathematical laws of chance. The diverse aspects of stochastics are reflected in the research groups of the institute, which together form the research focus Stochastic Models of the KIT Department of Mathematics:
SPATIAL STOCHASTICS AND STOCHASTIC GEOMETRY
Prof. Dr. Daniel Hug (Speaker of the collegial institute management)
Prof. Dr. Günter Last
STOCHASTIC PROCESSES IN FINANCE, ACTUARIAL MATHEMATICS AND TECHNOLOGY
Prof. Dr. Nicole Bäuerle (deputy spokesperson of the collegial institute management)
Prof. Dr. Vicky Fasen-Hartmann
In teaching, the institute is supported by Prof. Tilmann Gneiting from HITS in Heidelberg and his working group Computational Statistics.
